Institut français de Norvège, in collaboration with Alliance Française of Bergen and Bergen Public Library, is pleased to invite you to the screening of the film «Planet Ocean» by Yann Arthus-Bertrand and Michael Pitiot.
The documentary «Planet Ocean», directed by Yann Arthus-Bertrand and Michael Pitiot with the scientific support of the Tara Ocean foundation, provides a captivating exploration of the oceans through stunning aerial and underwater imagery. It goes beyond showcasing the magnificence of marine biodiversity, poignantly revealing the dramatic impact of human activity on the wealth of marine species, and emphasizing the importance of sustainable initiatives for preserving our planet.
Through intensive fishing and the exploitation of petroleum energies, humans are exploiting the oceans while increasingly engaging in polluting activities. This exploitation jeopardizes the marine ecosystem, a vital source of life, evolution, and species migration. In the critical context of climate change and the imminent challenges related to deep-sea exploitation, the film prompts reflection on the consequences of human lifestyles on the oceans, which are essential sources of livelihood for humanity.
By immersing us in the splendour of the oceans, «Planet Ocean» aims to awaken a collective consciousness and inspire commitment to the respect for marine beauty and life.
